- Peñol Stone and Guatapé
The Located 70 kilometers from Medellin and great internal staircase has 702 steps, the Stone of Peñol is the most visited by Antioquia. The stone or Rock of Guatape Peñol is a monolith of 220 meters located in Guatape (Antioquia, Colombia); the Guatape Stone, composed of quartz, feldspar and mica, was climbing.

The story says that the Peñol Stone, was an element of worship for Indians in ancient times inhabited the region, and during the colonial period were developed such famous legends like the devil who tried to take it several times, it's credited the large crack that had at the foot of the western side.

Guatapé is a municipality of Colombia, located in the subregion of Eastern Antioquia. It´s bordered on the north by the municipality of Alexandria, on the east by the municipality of San Rafael, on the south by the municipalities of Granada and the Peñol and on the west by the Peñol.

The Municipality of Guatapé has great potential to exploit religious tourism, agrotourism, ecotourism, culture and adventure. Among the most representative cultural elements of the municipality are the baseboards, which many were made in the early years of the twentieth century, and still preserved in the fronts of houses in the village.
The Peñol-Guatapé Reservoir is located in the eastern Colombian Antioquia, it's property of Public Enterprises Medellin. Its construction was necessary to demolish the town of El Peñol as well as various rural housing, both in the Peñol as Guatapé, was built in two stages (the first completed in 1972 and the second in 1979).
